Cruel Intentions is an American drama movie starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillipee, Reese Whitherspoon and Selma Blair based on the 18th century French novel Les Liaisons dangereuses by Laclos. Phillippe's Sebastian and Geller's Katherine are bickering step siblings who fight to control the lives of the students at a very wealthy and exclusive prep school in New York. The plot is driven by manipulation, seduction and love in a sophisticated social-elite youth surrounding. Katherine is the image of social perfection but seeks revenge on an ex-boyfriend who she believes wronged her in the past and is willing to ruin the reputations of others to achieve her goal. Debonair Sebastian has always been popular with ladies but now focuses his attention on his next, and very challenging conquest Annette Hargrove (Reese Whitherspoon) in order to win a bet with step-sister Katherine. If Sebastion can win this high stakes bet with Katherine he will be allowed to have his way with Katherine, a prize he has been after for a long time. If Katherine wins the bet she becomes the new owner of Sebastian's prized classic Jaguar.
