Cutthroat Island is a 1995 adventure that captures the comedy, drama and action of the high seas. Beautiful and feisty Morgan (Geena Davis) comes from a long line of bloodthirsty pirates, including her uncle Douglas (Frank Langella) who murdered Morgan's father (Harris Yurin). Determined to prove her own worth as a pirate queen, Morgan must work hard to command the respect of her dubious crew and prevent a mutiny from breaking out. Ambitious and honorable Morgan has her heart set on collecting the scattered pieces of a treasure map that will lead to the mysterious Cutthroat Island. Along with intelligent, insightful William (Matthew Modine), who happens to be Morgan's slave as well as her closest ally, Morgan and her crew have to navigate the constant dangers and unavoidable enemies that haunt the high seas. The problem is, the treasure map that Morgan desires is guarded by her murderous uncle. Morgan has to face her past in this action-packed and witty pirate adventure.moreless
