Dakota Incident is a 1956 Western that is often compared unfavorably with the well-received 1939 movie Stagecoach. Dakota Incident is worth a second look, however, as the action and suspense keep it interesting. John Banner (Dale Robertson) is shot in the back by his two partners and left for dead during a bank heist, but his injuries are not fatal and he looks for a ride to find his partners to settle the score. Banner joins a group of intriguing stagecoach riders including loudmouth U.S. Senator Blakely (Ward Bond) who decide to hop in the Laramie Stagecoach despite obvious evidence it had already been attacked by Indians. The stagecoach riders soon learn what a grave mistake they made when a wheel comes off, the horses abandon them, and Indians attack. The group winds up trapped in a dry stream bed trying to defend themselves against the Indians who try to draw them out. The stagecoach riders must work together and use their wits if any of them are to come out of this alive.moreless
