Dance, Girl, Dance is a 1940 film directed by Dorothy Azner. Judy O'Brien (Maureen O'Hara) and her friend, Bubbles (Lucille Ball), are both dancers, but they could not be more different. Judy is a disciplined ballet dancer determined to work tirelessly at her art. Bubbles is an outgoing burlesque dancer, happy to use her seductive charm to land a rich man and leave the sometimes harsh world of dancing behind. When a series of unfortunate mishaps mean that Judy misses her chance to meet a famous producer, Steve Adams (Ralph Bellamy), she turns to Bubbles' burlesque world to survive. Judy feels cheated that her hard work as a dancer is repaid with a job as Bubbles' sideshow, performing for unsophisticated audience members. The two dancers also fall for the same wealthy man, Jimmy (Louis Hayward), adding even more fireworks to their backstage life.
