Dancer, Texas – Pop. 81 is a comedy film directed by Tim McCanlies that follows the lives of four young high school graduates the summer before they leave their small town of Dancer, Texas for good. Keller (Breckin Meyer) is the most anxious to get out of town though he doesn’t quite have anything he strives to do in the determined destination of Los Angeles while familial obligations bear down on Terrell Lee Lusk (Peter Facinelli) despite his desire for something bigger. Squirrel (Ethan Embry) is ready to get out away from his alcoholic father and John Hemphill (Eddie Mills) might have the potential to work on a ranch, something he would love. As Keller pushes his friends to go, the rest of the town bands together in order to stop the four from leaving the security and life they could have in Dancer. Dancer, Texas – Pop. 81 takes a look at whether all life’s lessons should be learned the hard way or learned from another’s story.moreless
