Dandelion is a 2005 family drama centered around a less than fortunate boy from a small town in Idaho. The film was co-written and directed by Mark Milgard in what is his first movie. Dandelion follows Mason (Vincent Kartheiser - Mad Men), an alienated and emotionally devoid teenage boy growing up in a small, lackluster town. It is no wonder Mason is less than happy these days - his mother, Layla (Mare Winningham) is quiet and repressed; his father, Luke (Arliss Howard), dictatorial and demanding. But Mason is introduced to a whole new world when he meets a troubled teenage girl named Danny (Taryn Manning - Crossroads, 8 Mile) who he falls in love with. Just as he is learning the meaning of affection, Mason becomes unlawfully accused of a criminal act and is taken away. Will hope and love trump the misfortunate events which increasingly infringe upon Mason's well-being? Dandelion is a picturesque film which illustrates the strange, often unfair, events one must endure growing up.moreless

Like its troubled protagonists, Mark Milgard's ultra-sensitive ode to adolescent angst is equal parts earnest and awkward. Should you happen to be a 15-year-old girl, you'll adore it.
