Dangerous Lady is a 1941 comedic crime film directed by Bernard Ray. Duke Martindel (Neil Hamilton) is trying to crack one of the toughest cases of his career. Hester (Evelyn Brent) is accused of murder and Duke believes he can clear the young woman's good name and give her a second shot at life. Duke's partner and wife, Phyllis (June Storey), works just as hard as her husband, but despite their best efforts, it seems that Hester may still wind up behind bars. To make matters more complicated, the police are not on their side, meaning that Duke and Phyllis are at the mercy of the actual killers. After Duke is nearly killed by the real suspects, the couple considers giving the case up, but in the end they decide that Hester's innocence is more important than their safety. They continue in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, using their wits to survive.
