Davy Crockett and the River Pirates is a 1956 Disney adventure story about the hero of legend. Davy Crockett (Fess Parker) and his sidekick, George Russell (Buddy Ebsen), take their collection of fur pelts to sell at the New Orleans flea market. They launch downstream on a makeshift raft. As they travel, they are challenged to a keelboat race against Mike Fink (Jeff York), who calls himself the King of the River. Their water rafting adventures take them into the heart of what seems to be a hostile Native American population. They capture the boat racers and claim that White men have been killing natives. However, it soon becomes clear that their adversaries are actually pirates posing as Native Americans, and they are out to steal whatever they can. Now it's up to the duo and their competitor turned friend to expose the pirates for who they are, redeem the good name of the Native Americans, and escape with their skins intact.moreless
