Day for Night is a 1973 romantic comedy directed by the acclaimed Francois Truffaut. Ferrand (Francois Truffaut) is a director plagued by the problems of creating a movie, "Je Vous Presente Pamela." The melodramatic film stars several actors and actresses who are down on their luck in various ways. British actress Julie (Jacqueline Bisset), a beautiful young woman, is fragile and uncertain, having just suffered a nervous breakdown. Her marriage to Dr. Nelson (David Markham), a much older man, has also been the root of controversy, further disturbing Julie. Alexandre (Jean-Pierre Aumont) was once a great heartthrob, but now finds that his aging looks hold him back. The same happens to Severine (Valentina Cortese), who cannot let go of her former life as a great diva. Alphonse (Jean-Pierre Leaud) is youthful but impetuous. With so many clashing egos, the filming of the movie becomes lost in the shuffle of human drama, creating a poignant and often humorous exploration of the meeting between life and cinema.moreless
