Dead in the Water is a highly praised American thriller movie at the 2002 International Independent Film and Video Festival directed by Gustavo Lipstein. Gloria (Dominique Swain), a young and ambitious daughter of a bankrupted Brazilian businessman, is asked by his father to invite his father's wealthy business partner's son, Marcos (Sebastian de Vicente), to a trip in the ocean with their boat, Boa Vida. They are accompanied by Gloria's boyfriend, Danny (Scott Bairstow), and buddy, Jeffrey (Henry Thomas) to the municipality of Angra dos Reis. While at sea, they drink beer and Caipirinhas and Gloria flirts with the rich Marcos. When Danny sees her girlfriend kiss Marcos, he became jealous and throws him into the water with a life jacket and drives the boat away to a distant island to retrieve him at a later time. The group returns to Marcos' spot but sees no trace of him. Marcos's disappearance stirs panick to the group and endangers their friendship as they find their way out of their predicament.moreless
