Dead Reckoning is a 1947 crime film that shows to what lengths a WWII vet will go to protect the honor of his friend. In the film, Captain Rip Murdock (Humphrey Bogart) and Sergeant Johnny Drake (William Prince) are heading to Washington DC to receive the Medal of Honor for their service in World War II as paratroopers. Somewhere in the middle of the ceremony, Johnny ends up missing and no one knows where he is. Rip decides to investigate and finds out that Johnny was killed in a car accident. Rip then uncovers information that Johnny is not who he said he was and Rip feels led to find the truth. What he finds out is that Johnny is suspected of murder, has a wife named Coral Chandler (Lizabeth Scott) and that no one can be trusted. Rip tries to sort through the information to determine what is fact and fiction and find out the truth.
