Deadline, directed by Sean McConville, is a 2009 drama about a 32-year-old writer, Alice (Brittany Murphy), who is currently recovering after suffering a psychological breakdown. Alice is in the midst of writing a screenplay and the deadline is steadily approaching. In order to get the work done in time, she travels to a remote Victorian home where she can concentrate alone for one week. She gets dropped off at the house so she cannot be tempted to leave. Soon after arriving, Alice begins to hear voices and strange sounds in the big old house. Trying to convince herself that she is imagining things, she boldly travels to the house's attic because the sounds seem to originate from there. While in the attic, Alice does not find anyone, but she does find a mysterious box of video tapes and a few of someone's personal belongings. Unable to focus on her screenplay, Alice decides to watch the tapes and unravel the mystery of the big house.moreless
