Deadly Friend is a 1986 horror film directed by suspense master Wes Craven. In the film, director Wes Craven, the man responsible for both A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream, tells the story of a young scientific genius named Paul Conway (Matthew Laborteaux). Paul and his mother Jeannie (Anne Twomey) have just moved into a new town. Paul is studying artificial intelligence and neurology at the local college, and has built a remote-controlled robot named BB (Charles Fleischer). Paul becomes close friends with his new beautiful next-door-neighbor Samantha (Kristy Swanson) and a fellow college student named Tom (Michael Sharrett). As a prank, the three friends use BB to break into neighbor Elvira Parker's (Anne Ramsey) yard. Things turn out badly, and Elvira Shoots BB with a shotgun and destroys him. Samantha has a very abusive father (Richard Marcus), and on one occasion is beaten so badly that she is near death. Together, Paul and Tom break into the hospital and steal Samantha's lifeless body. Using all of his scientific knowledge, Paul is able to bring Samantha back to life by implanting BB's artificial intelligence chip into her brain. Now, filled with a combination of Samantha and BB's memories, this new Samantha, possessing super-human strength, is out for revenge against both Samantha's father and Elvira Parker.moreless
