Deal of the Century is a 1983 comedy written by Paul Brickman (Risky Business) and directed by William Friedkin (The French Connection). When three arms dealers compete to sell expensive high tech arms to General Cordosa, a South American dictator, things get complicated in a hurry. Eddie Muntz (Chevy Chase), Ray Kasternak (Gregory Hines) and Catherine DeVoto (Sigourney Weaver) fall all over each other in an attempt to make the sale. They ply the General with liquour and lavish gifts, flatter him endlessly and impress him with their awesome displays of fire power. Things begin to unravel, however, when, in the midst of all the wheeling and dealing, one arms dealer goes through a religious conversion and two others begin to fall in love. With the financial viability of one of the arms firms hanging in the balance, there is no telling who will succeed in making the deal of the century.
