Dear Brat is the story of rehabilitation and forgiveness, as the daughter of a judge works to help recent parolees get back on their feet. Dear Brat centers on Miriam Wilkins (Mona Freeman), the daughter of a former judge, Senator Wilkins (Edward Arnold), and her quest to start a Society for the Rehabilitation of Criminals. Unknowingly, Miriam appoints her father as President of her rehabilitation society, which causes a major conflict for him. Also unknown to him, Miriam hired Harry Baxter (Lyle Bettger), a recently paroled criminal, as the family's new gardener. It later is shown that Baxter was actually convicted by Miriam's father when he was a judge, and he attempts to fire him to ensure the safety of his family. It is then that Miriam informs him of his position in the society and how his reputation would be tarnished if he fired Baxter. Throughout the conflict at home, Miriam works to reunite Baxter with his wife and family so that his life may go back to normal and he can complete his rehabilitation.moreless
