Death Hunt

Movie Summary

Director:
Peter Hunt
Released:
1981
Rating:
R
Death Hunt is the 1981 cult period action adventure favorite from writers Michael Grais and Mark Victor (Poltergeist, Marked for Death) and director Peter Hunt (On Her Majesty's Secret Service). The film has shades of the contemporary Rambo theme as Albert Johnson (Charles Bronson, Death Wish, The Magnificent Seven, Once Upon a Time in the West) kills a violent trapper in self defense and is in turn hunted for murder. He uses his knowledge of the land and survival to outwit his would-be captors in a protracted standoff that spans time and stunning Alaskan landscapes. Johnson doesn't have much to say, although his wily counterpart Royal Candadian Mounted Policeman Edgar Millen (Lee Marvin, The Dirty Dozen, Point Blank, The Killers, The Professionals, Paint Your Wagon) is at his wits end as his inept and poorly disciplined posse fall victim to Johnson's animal-like instincts and superior survival skills as the unforgiving winter closes in.
