Deceiver is a psychological drama about a rich heir that is questioned in the case of a young girl''s murder. When a young prostitute named Elizabeth (Renee Zelwegger) is murdered, the prime suspect is James Walter Wayland (Tim Roth), a rich heir to a textile mill. While he definitely knew the girl, Wayland maintains his innocence, and it's up detectives Philip Braxton (Chris Penn) and Edward Kennesaw (Michael Rooker) to squeeze the truth out of him in the interrogation room. But doing so proves to be quite a daunting task, as Wayland, though riddled with problems from epilepsy to addiction, is quite smart and extremely manipulative. As more and more questions are thrown at him, the accused turns the tables on the detectives, uncovering personal secrets about their connection the dead girl until everyone is a suspect in her killing. Jonas and Josh Pate direct this thriller that will have you guessing until the very end.
