December Boys is a 2007 Australian coming-of-age drama directed by Rod Hardy. Four orphan boys with the same birth month, Maps (Daniel Radcliffe), Misty (Lee Cormie), Sparks (Christian Byers) and Spit (James Fraser), are sent by their Catholic Orphanage on a beach vacation to the house of Mrs. McAnsh (Kris McQuade). Soon after they arrive, the boys meet Fearless (Sullivan Stapleton), a motorcycle daredevil at the local carnival, and his wife Teresa (Victoria Hill). While the younger boys develop a crush on Teresa, Maps, the oldest, falls in love with a local girl, Lucy (Teresa Palmer). One night, Misty overhears Fearless telling one of his friends that the couple intends on adopting one of the boys. When the other boys find out, they set about competing for the opportunity for a real family. Meanwhile, Maps begins to think more seriously about his relationship with Lucy and drifts away from the other boys. As the summer ends, the boys realize their lives will never be the same.moreless
