Demons of the Mind is a 1972 horror film set in 19th-century Bavaria and directed by Peter Sykes. The film chronicles the lives of deranged Baron Zorn (Robert Hardy) and his two grown children Elizabeth (Gillian Hills) and Emil (Shane Briant). When Zorn comes to believe that Elizabeth and Emil have inherited a bizarre curse from their late mother before her suicide, he locks them away in a castle and drugs them into submission. Mysteriously, young women are found murdered in the woods surrounding the castle. Emil and Elizabeth are suspected by the local peasants. In a desperate attempt to cure his children of the curse, Baron Zorn brings in mad scientist, Falkenberg, to cure them. More interested in money than cures, Falkenberg enlists a young lady, Inge (Virgina Wetherell) to act out a psycho-drama and purge the children of their demons. As the treatment begins, Falkenberg finds he has gotten more than he has bargained for as the family drama spins out of control. Horror film aficionados will be mesmerized by this complicated tale of incest and possession.moreless
