Dennis the Menace is a 1993 family comedy based on the comic strip by Hank Ketcham and directed by Nick Castle. In the film, Dennis Mitchell (Mason Gamble) is the five-year-old mischievous little boy of Alice (Lea Thompson) and Henry (Robert Stanton) Mitchell. Dennis is full of life and his curiosity often leads to escapades that unintentionally effect his grouchy neighbor, Mr. George Wilson (Walter Matthau). Mr. Wilson has little patience for Dennis, but his wife, Mrs. Martha Wilson (Joan Plowright), loves Dennis and sees him as her grandson. When both parents are called out-of-town for work they turn to the Wilsons to watch Dennis. Martha and George agree to watch Dennis, but George is not happy about it. While the Wilsons are watching George, a burglar, Switchblade Sam (Christopher Lloyd), begins robbing houses in the neighborhood. When Dennis tries to tell Mr. Wilson about something, he sends him away because he is busy. But when Dennis turns up missing, Mr. Wilson feels responsible and leads the search for the mischievous little boy.
