Desperate Measures is a 1998 crime thriller starring Andy Garcia as a San Francisco cop forced to choose between his job and his son's life. Officer Frank Conner (Andy Garcia) has always played by the rules. When his son Matthew (Joseph Cross) falls seriously ill, only a bone marrow transplant will save his life. Unfortunately, doctors have difficulty in matching Matthew's blood type and Frank decides to illicitly use the FBI's records to find a possible donor. Convicted killer Peter McCabe (Michael Keaton) proves to be a perfect match and appreciates the opportunity to spend time outside of prison. He also crafts an escape plan that he puts into motion before the operation takes place. With the hospital on lockdown, Frank must hunt down the only man who can save his son's life and keep the killer safe from the other police officers on the scene. Barbet Schroeder ("Reversal of Fortune") directs this suspenseful drama.
