Destination Gobi is a suspenseful action war movie with many characters and personalities. The movie takes place in the desert during World War II. The main character, a leader in the Navy, is played by Richard Widmark. Sam McHale (Richard Widmark) is the leader of men in the US Navy sent to watch weather patterns in Mongolia and plan to use them to their advantage. They must take a long and treacherous path full of danger to finish the journey that is assigned to them. On their way they meet a Mongolian chief (Murvyn Vye) and battle with the Japanese who are trying to mislead their voyage. The men must overcome many battles and at the same time make many friends. The Mongols are rewarded greatly for the help they bestowed upon the US Navy men. Watch as the men's opinions of others and each other change for the better.
