Destination Tokyo is a war film from 1943 starring Cary Grant and John Garfield. It was directed by Delmer Daves. It centers around events on the USS Copperfin submarine, commanded by Captain Cassidy (Cary Grant). The Copperfin is en route from San Fransisco to the Aleutian Islands. Their mission is to team up with meteorologist Lieutenant Raymond and then proceed to Tokyo Bay to obtain intelligence of the weather patterns in the area and return the information to the US Military, who are planning to raid there. It is through the experience and actions of the crew that they are able to survive an attack by Japanese planes, and it is their ingenuity that helps them devise a way to save sailor Tommy Adams (Robert Hutton) from an attack of appendicitis. The team manages to get into the bay, and out again, but will they be able to bring the intelligence home?
