Diamond Queen was filmed by John Brahm and composed by Paul Sawtell in 1953. The film, set in 1659 during the reign of France's Louis XIV, begins when jeweler Gabriel Tavernierm (Richard Hale) destroys a diamond meant to be placed upon the coronation crown of Louis XIV. He's quickly thrown into prison, and his son, Jean Baptiste Tavernier (Fernando Lamas), is sent to India, along with the Baron Paul de Cabannes (Gilbert Roland), to hunt down a replacement for this special diamond. When they arrive they are forced to find a comparable regal gem for the king's crown. In India the Frenchmen, Jean and the Baron, meet the beautiful Queen Maya of Nepal (Arlene Dahl) and her handy steward Gujar (Jay Nevello). They quickly stumble into an adventure filled with danger. Jean and the Baron quickly find themselves in the land of an evil ruler and mogul (Sheldon Leonard) who has obtained a rare blue gem that they both covet. This adventure cannot be missed.moreless
