Die Hard is the first film in a classic American tetralogy released in 1988. John McClane (Bruce Willis) is visiting Los Angeles to reconnect with his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) and children on Christmas Eve. Just as McClane arrives at his wifes Christmas party, a band of terrorists, led by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) take the building hostage. An unprepared and shoe-less McClane has to take to the air vents and back corridors of Nakitomi Plaza to stop the terrorists and save his wife. Hes not alone, hell have the help of Sergeant Al Powell (Reginald VelJohnson), an LA desk Cop whos just trying to get home to his wife. Directed by John McTiernan, the film is based on a novel by Roderick Thorp called Nothing Lasts Forever. It was followed in 1990 by Die Hard 2, Die Hard With a Vengeance in 1995, and Live Free or Die Hard in 2007.moreless
