John McClane must prevent a terrorist attack from happening at an airport where his wife is about to land. McClane only has 58 minutes to stop the attack before the plane lands. The success of this film allowed for the third film, Die Hard with a Vengeance, to be made which followed Die Hard 2 five years later. The film also received positive critical reception including from Roger Ebert who claimed it was "terrific entertainment."
