Diminished Capacity stars Matthew Broderick as a Chicago journalist who is coping with memory loss brought on by a concussion he received in a fight. Cooper (Broderick) takes a few days off from work and goes home to help his mother move his uncle into a nursing home. Cooper's Uncle Rollie (Alan Alda), exhibiting early signs of Alzheimer's, wants to be cared for at home and has a plan to pay for it. Rollie owns a rare 1908 Chicago Cubs baseball card and hopes to sell it and use the profits to pay for at-home help. Cooper meets up with his high school flame, newly divorced Charlotte (Virginia Madsen), and the threesome embark on a road trip to attend a large memorabilia expo. Rollie has moments of lucidity combined with general confusion and quirky behavior, while Cooper struggles with concentrating on simple tasks. Overwhelmed with the noise and fast-paced activity at the expo, they encounter two baseball card dealers, Mad Dog McClure (Dylan Baker) and Lee Vivyan (Bobby Cannavale), who may not be all they seem to be.moreless
