Discarded Lovers is a 1932 mystery directed by Fred C. Newmeyer. Beautiful, charismatic Irma Gladden (Natalie Moorhead) seemed to have a bright future ahead of her. In addition to her growing fame as a movie actress, she kept up dalliances with a number of men. Irma's fast-paced lifestyle comes to a sudden and brutal halt when she is found murdered. The name of her latest film, "Falling Star," is now hauntingly symbolic. The police arrive at the scene, including Sergeant Delany (Fred Kelsey) and Captain Sommers (J. Farrell MacDonald). Together with reporter Bob Adair (Russell Hopton), the men hope to unravel the mystery of Irma's tragic death. To make things complicated, however, it soon becomes clear that Irma has a whole trail of suspects. Among them are her two previous husbands, Andre Leighton (Roy D'Arcy) and Robert Worth (Allen Dailey), and Grace Sibley (Sharon Lynn), the wife of her latest lover (Robert Frazer). It seems as if Irma's death may remain a mystery for all time, unless her secretary, Valerie (Barbara Weeks), can shed some light on the matter.moreless
