Disengagement is a 2007 French, Italian, and Israeli film written and directed by Amos Gitai and starring Juliette Binoche, Liron Levo, and Jeanne Moreau. When Ana's (Binoche) father dies, she is left with the peculiar and trying circumstances required in her father's will in order to get her inheritance. Ana must travel to Israel to meet the now 20-year-old daughter she abandoned as a teenager. Her brother Uli (Liron Levo) arrives at the funeral from Israel, and after having not spoken in many years, the siblings reconnect. They discover that despite their differences they have much in common. Uli encourages Ana to make good on her father's wishes. Her attempt to reconnect with her daughter leads her to Gaza, where political turmoil has made it dangerous for Ana to be traveling. Also starring Barbara Hendricks, Dana Ivgy, and Hiam Abbass, Disengagement received positive reviews from critics around the world.
