Divine Intervention is 2008 comedy about the challenges of leading a flock. Reverend Gibbs (Wesley Jonathan) is confident, brash, young and attractive, ready to prove himself as a preacher. Reverend Gibbs is assigned to a Baptist church in Los Angeles, taking over for Reverend Matthews (James Avery), who suffered from a stroke. The congregation is not ready for such a drastic change in style. Reverend Matthews was stern, intimidating and focused more on hellfire and brimstone, while Reverend Gibbs prefers to spread a message of love and acceptance. As the congregation slowly warms up to Reverend Gibbs, he finds himself drawn to a mysterious young woman in the community. Divine (Jazsmin Lewis) has left the faith, wounded by a tragic loss in her past and unable to trust in God. Reverend Gibbs welcomes the challenge of winning Divine's heart and winning her back into the fold. Little does Reverend Gibbs realize that Divine has other secrets. On his quest to become the permanent pastor and find love, Reverend Gibbs will have to face many personal obstacles.moreless
