DOA: Dead or Alive is an action/martial arts movie modeled after the popular video game franchise, "Dead or Alive" which was created by Techmo studios. The movie tells how a small group of skilled martial artists meet to fight in a grand martial arts tournament for a prize of ten million dollars. The competition turns ugly when the true motives of the corporation that brought the fighters together are revealed, at which point the protagonists, three women, must come together to fight a common enemy. The film is a stunning thriller that heralds a rich plot and character development. Produced by Dimension films, this cinematic score touts stars such as Devon Aoki (Kasumi), Jaime Pressley (Tina Armstrong), and Sarah Carter (Helena Douglas). Even with a limited budget, director Corey Yuan manages to pull off a visually impressive and dazzling piece of cinema.
