Doctor At Sea follows the comedic story of a doctor who can't settle for practicing on land and decides to practice on deck. Dr. Simon Sparrow (Dirk Bogarde) is a bored bachelor. He has no intentions of giving in to the affections of his boss' daughter, Muriel Mallet (Brenda De Banzie). Instead, he sets out to sea for a life of adventure on the USS Lotus. On board, he finds that life is indeed curious, as he has to treat a cast of odd characters. While in port in South America, Simon meets the seductive French nightclub singer, Helene Colbert (Brigitte Bardot). The two quickly fall in love. As a consequence, she joins the ship, much to the chagrin of the sexist Captain Hogg (James Robertson Justice). Worse yet, Muriel also joins the voyage. Now Simon must keep his distance from Muriel while developing his relationship with Helene. Ironically, things start to heat up between Muriel and the Captain in this story of comedic romance on the high seas.moreless
