Doctor Doolittle is a family comedy directed by Betty Thomas. Veterinarian Dr. John Doolittle (Eddie Murphy) seems to have it all, including a wonderful family that consists of an adoring wife, Lisa (Kristen Wilson), and two beautiful girls, Charisse (Raven-Symone) and Maya (Kyla Pratt). He also loves his job. One evening, while driving home, he doesn't see a dog in the road until the last minute and narrowly avoids an accident. He hears the dog yell a name at him before running away. After that incident, Dr. Doolittle realizes that he can communicate with animals of all shapes and sizes, as they begin speaking to him with alarming frequency to ask for assistance with their various health issues. Although Doolittle wants to help them all, things begin to get complicated as his family and friends express concern over his mental health and his marriage is threatened by his erratic behavior.
