Dog Watch is a 1996 crime drama directed by John Langley. In the film, San Francisco police detective Charlie Falon (Sam Elliott) arrives on a crime scene to discover that his partner has been shot dead and the man who he believes killed him is still standing near the body. Enraged Charlie tackles the suspected killer to the ground and begins to beat him. Unable to control his anger over the loss of his partner, he continues to beat the man until he is dead. Scared and unsure what to do next, Charlie decides to throw the body into the river in hopes that no one will find him. He then returns to the scene of the crime and calls in the murder of his partner. It is not long before the killer's body shows up and ironically Charlie is the detective assigned to the case. Charlie and his new partner (Esai Morales) start their investigation. Charlie finds himself trying to cover his tracks, so his partner does not suspect him. Thinking that he knows everything about the murder, Charlie is very surprised when he begins to unravel the truth about his partner and his department.moreless
