Doing Hard Time is an American drama released in 2004. When seven-year old Chase (Justin Martin) is shot during a drug deal gone wrong, nobody present is sure which one of the gunmen on the scene actually fired the murderous shot. To make matters worse, Chase's father, Michael (Boris Kadjoe) has recently lost his wife to cancer and is distraught with the idea of losing his only son as well. Michael becomes determined to find out which of the two men killed his son. In a moment of determination, he devises an elaborate scheme to reap his revenge. This consists of Michael committing a heinous crime himself so that he can be sentenced to prison in the same institution as the two potential killers. Meanwhile, the two gunmen are having a conflict of their own. Durty Curt (Michael K. Williams) is determined to settle the score once and for all with Razor (Michael Kimbrew). The inmates arrange a showdown and begin placing bets in preparation. This draws Michael closer to the gunmen and closer to the revenge that he so eagerly seeks and the way that he attains it will shock even the most suspecting of audiences.
