Don't Knock The Rock is a 1957 music movie and the sequel to the previous year's smash hit film Rock Around the Clock. The film focuses on the anti-rock and roll sentiment held among many parents during the late fifties who felt rock and roll was deplorable music responsible for turning good kids into rowdy rebels. Whereas Rock Around the Clock only worsened the image of rock and roll in the eyes of its critics by inciting riots in some theaters, Don't Knock The Rock extended an olive branch to rock critics by attempting to display the positive qualities of rock and roll. Famous disc jockey Alan Freed returns in this film, as well as headliners Bill Haley and His Comets who perform the title song. Alan Dale stars as rock musician who returns to his hometown for the summer. Once home, however, he discovers his music has been banned by the disapproving authorities of the town. With the help of rock icons including Little Richard and Dave Appell and the Applejacks, Dale sets out to reverse negative impressions of rock and roll in Don't Knock The Rock.moreless
