Don't Tempt Me is the story of a man with one voice on each shoulder, an angel calling him to better things and a devil promising seduction. Manny (Demian Bicher) is a boxer whose life is in the balance. A brain injury may soon bring his career and everything else to an end. To make things worse, he finds himself trapped in a cosmic battle between Heaven and Hell, both of whom have their eyes on him. Heaven seems to promise a satisfying if elitist eternity, strangely akin to Paris. Hell is fiery and exciting, though dangerous. Each sends an ambassador, an angel and a demon. Both are dressed to kill, as Carmen (Penelope Cruz) and Lola (Victoria Abril) do their best to seduce Manny towards salvation or damnation. The fight boils down to a matter of will and persuasion, and Manny teeters back and forth between the two seductive choices. A metaphysical comedy, the movie provokes interesting philosophical questions while holding the audience in suspense.moreless
