Double Indemnity is a 1944 film noir that tells the story of a dangerous love triangle that ends in murder and a large insurance settlement. When Phyllis Dietrichson (Barbara Stanwyck) is looking for away out of her unhappy marriage to her husband (Tom Powers), she isn't thinking of divorce. With the help of her new lover, insurance agent Walter Neff (Fred MacMurray), she concocts a plan to do away with the man and collect twice the insurance payment. When Mr. Dietrichson ends up underneath a train, Phyllis and Walter think they have committed the perfect crime. When new couple try to collect the money, however, claims manager Barton Keyes (Edward G. Robinson), becomes suspicious. Mr. Dietrichson was Barton's best friend and something about the accident doesn't sit right with him. As his investigation continues, Barton begins to unravel the relationship between Phyllis and Walter. As the film heads toward its final conclusion, the perfect crime begins to resemble a nightmare. Directed by Bill Wilder, this classic film noir was nominated for an Academy Award.moreless
