Although it seems unusual, he doesn't think much of the note at first. However, after a few days of no contact from his wife, Albert begins to wonder if his wife is actually missing and not visiting friends. Metacritic Score

  • 42

    Entertainment Weekly Owen Gleiberman

There are brutal scenes with razor blades and other impromptu devices of erotic torment, but what makes the movie a trial to sit through isn't just the heroine's pain-freak tastes.

  • 30

    Variety Todd McCarthy

On a moment to moment basis, however, picture continuously skirts very close to the ludicrous in its advanced-stage grimness and outre forms of torture foreplay.

The New York Times Manohla Dargis

A nasty exploitation flick tarted up with art-house actors and psychobabble.
