Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary is a vampire film with a twist from director Guy Maddin. It is the cinematic transposition of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet's rendition of Bram Stoker's classic horror novel Dracula. The silent film is primarily in black and white with the use of color for dramatic effect. The story starts with Dracula (Zhang Wei-Qiang) arriving in London who then meets the young Lucy (Tara Birtwhistle). Dracula puts fun-loving Lucy under his spell. Lucy's erratic behavior requires her to be put under the care of Van Helsing (David Moroni), who is immediately suspicious of the cause of the young woman's illness. Dracula then turns his blood lust towards the naive virginal Mina (Cindy Marie Small), but attracts unwanted attention from her fianc'' Jonathan (Johnny A. Wright). Van Helsing and Jonathan lead their party to Dracula's castle to dispatch the vampire and his curse. Be sure to add some garlic to your popcorn during this chilling film rendition!moreless
