Movie Summary

Dreamchild is a unique and introspective look at Lewis Carrol's life through the eyes of the woman who inspired Alice In Wonderland. On the 100 year anniversary of the birth of Reverend Charles Dodgson, known more by his pen name Lewis Caroll, Alice Hargreaves (Coral Browne), the now 80 year old girl that inspired Alice In Wonderland is invited to a celebration in the author's honor. Mobbed by reporters at the highly anticipated event, Alice's friend and travel companion Lucy (Nicola Cowper) garners the interest of one particular reporter, Jack Dolan (Peter Gallagher), who manages to muscle his way into Lucy's heart, and therefore into Alice's life. We begin to see a window into Alice's mind through a series of flashbacks, where the characters from Wonderland appear, quite frighteningly, as a prelude to a meeting with Dodgson (Ian Holm) himself, all in a surreal fantasy world that reveals the impact the book had on Alice and the true message the author had for the young woman he adored. Gavin Millar directs this strikingly original movie, about life and art becoming one in the same.moreless
