Dreamscape is the 1984 sci-fi drama in which a young man with psychic powers, Alex Gardner (Dennis Quaid), gets a job with the U.S. government to help them test out their new invention which allows people to enter into other people's dreams. However, when a subject of the experiment dies in his sleep, Alex suspects that the government has employed another psychic who may be using the machine for diabolical ends. Bob Blair (Christopher Plummer) is a high-ranking government official who very clearly has questionable integrity, and it quickly becomes apparent that the device may even endanger the President of the United States himself (Eddie Albert). Now Alex must enter into the President's horrible nightmares to explore a post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland, find out who else might be loose in his dreams, and save the President. Scientists Dr. Paul Novotny (Max von Sydow) and Dr Jane DeVries (Kate Capshaw), who want to use the machine to rescue people from disturbing dreams, are Alex's only hope.
