Drowning Mona is a 2000 comedy/murder mystery written by Peter Steinfeld, directed by Nick Gomez, and featuring an all-star cast that includes Danny DeVito, Bette Midler, Neve Campbell, and Jamie Lee Curtis in a story about a small-town woman who dies under mysterious circumstances, and the police chief who must find the murderer among a long list of suspects. Midler plays Mona Dearly, a woman who drowns to death after driving her car off a cliff and into the river below. DeVito plays Chief Wyatt Rash, a local police chief who suspects foul play was involved in Mona's untimely departure. However, Verplanck, New York is a very small town, and Mona was a much-hated woman among the locals. Added to that, everybody in Verplanck is connected to one another, and soon the web of lies, half-truths, and falsehoods grows hilariously thick. Drowning Mona is a hysterical dark comedy about a small-town mystery, featuring appearances by Will Ferrell, Mark Pellegrino, Casey Affleck, and William Fichtner.moreless
