Duma is the true story of a baby cheetah who is taken in by a family of farmers in South Africa. Peter (Campbell Scott) is an easygoing farmer and the father of an adventurous and curious boy named Xan (Alex Michaeletos). Being an only child living on a farm, Xan lacks any siblings or friends to play with. While with his father one day, Xan discovers an abandoned baby cheetah, and asks his father if he could keep him. Peter allows Xan to take the cheetah home with him, but warns him not to become too attached to the cub. However, Xan and Duma immediately take a liking to each other. Xan's mother, Kristin (Hope Davis), puts their home up for sale soon after Peter falls very ill. Not willing to live without Duma, Xan runs away with his furry friend. Xan and Duma go on an adventure together into the wild in this story of an incredible human-animal bond.
