Dumplings is a 2004 thriller by Hong Kong director Fruit Chan that appears to be an innocent story about chasing youth, but the gruesome twist will send chills down your spine. Mrs. Lee (Miriam Yeung Chin Wa) is a former star who is now married to a wealthy man and like many in her position, is afraid of losing her husband to a younger woman. She seeks out Aunt Mei (Ling Bai) who is famous for her youth rejuvenating dumplings. Aunt Mei spent years as a gynecologist who performed thousands of abortions and now spends her time making dumplings for wealthy women who seek to turn back the years. Mrs. Lee wants to accelerate the process and needs more dumplings than Aunt Mei has the ingredients to make. When a pregnant teen arrives asking Aunt Mei to give her an abortion, Aunt Mei thinks she has found the solution to her dumpling problem. As long as Mrs. Lee doesn't ask what Aunt Mei's secret ingredient is, everything might be okay.moreless
