Dynamite Warrior is a 2007 fantasy martial arts movie directed by Chalerm Wongpim. The film is set in rural Thailand during the 1920s. Jone Bang Fai (Dan Chupong) is a grief stricken teenage boy who witnessed his parents' savage murder. Jone Bang Fai's only memory of the murderer is a tatoo the man had and a rumor that he runs with a group of local cattle raiders. A local nobleman, Lord Waeng (Phutipong Sriwat) wants to persuade the townspeople into supporting his steam tractor business. Since the people are hesitant, Lord Waeng hires a goon known as "The Thief"(Somdet Kaewleu) to steal their cattle. When Jone Bang Fai catches a glimpse of The Thief, something hits him. From that point on he focuses all his anger and vengeful thoughts on The Thief and his cattle raider comrades. Will Jone Bang Fai avenge his parents' death, or is he a young man consumed with grief and looking for someone to blame?

Metacritic Score

  • 63

    New York Post V.A. Musetto

Isn't perfect, but it's light years ahead of "Ong-Bak."

  • 63

    TV Guide Maitland McDonagh

Wongpim pays tribute to classic Italian Westerns in his face-hugging close-ups, but his film is more silly than existentially anarchic, and its exotic quirkiness wears thin quickly.

  • 60

    The New York Times

Chalerm Wongpim keeps it all moving along at such a clip that you're more likely to leave the theater smiling than yawning.
