Earthlings is a documentary that provides a comprehensive look at animal rights and looks at humanity's use of animals. The film is directed by Shaun Monson, narrated by Joaquin Phoenix and includes music by Moby. The use of animals in different industries is examined throughout the film, from pet stores, puppy mills and animal shelters to factory farms, slaughterhouses, the leather and fur trades, sports and entertainment industries, the medical and scientific profession and many more animal reliant industries. Through shocking footage after shocking footage, it asks for humane treatment of animals. The film is done in a reflective style and suggests the only way to stop animal suffering is to use vegan practices. The footage in the film was obtained using hidden camera and shows never before seen footage of day to day practices within the various industries. The film has won two Best Documentary Awards and a Best Content award. Joaquin Phoenix won the Humanitarian Award for his work on this film.moreless
