Easy Money tells the stories of four groups in post-war England whose lives are all disrupted by the tradition of a betting pool placed on the outcomes of soccer matches. In the first light-hearted segment, a stoic English family's harmony is destroyed when they discover their youngest daughter (Petula Clark) sent them the winning ticket through the mail, and the mood at the dinner table breaks down into argument about how to distribute their unexpected new wealth. The second story follows a young office clerk (Mervyn Johns) who, having won the pool, frets about telling his boss he no longer needs to work for a living. In the third vignette, a nightclub singer (Greta Gynt) convinces her boyfriend (Dennis Price), who works at a ticket-checking counter, to defraud the checker and win the money. In the last tale, a musician (Edward Rigby) who quit his orchestra in a fit of excitement about his prize, discovers he misses his music and his friends.moreless
