Eddie Izzard: Definite Article is the 1996 concert film of the British comic's one-of-a-kind comedy at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London. The performance begins with Izzard stepping out from the pages of an oversized book on the stage. Throughout the routine, the book "pages" display a variety of quotes from authors like Shakespeare, Lewis Carroll, and Anton Chekhov. Although better known in the States as an actor in films like "Ocean's Twelve," he began his career as a street performer and standup comic. He broke through to an international audience with this first film that captures his rapid-fire delivery, wide range of topics and open discussion of his predilection for wearing women's clothes. He jumps from discussing the comic side of James Bond to how dogs set the precedence for sex to fashion in breathless fashion while strutting across the stage in high-heeled boots. Some topics may be best suited for mature audiences.
