Eddie Izzard: Glorious captures a 1997 routine performed at the Apollo Theatre in Manchester, England that covers both the personal and the political on a dazzling display of his wide range of topics. Izzard has famously revealed himself as a transvestite, and in this performance he describes his experience of being a bashing victim and how he won a court victory after the incident. Most of the routine follows Izzard as he journeys through a wide range of topics from misbehaving giraffes, hopscotch and the difficulties of computer printing. With rapid-fire delivery and skewering wit, he explores the Bible from the Old Testament to Revelations, using his imitation of actor James Mason as the voice of God. Along the way, he lampoons England's Prince Philip as well as his own inevitable transformation into being his father. Although best known for his work as an actor, this British comedian has an international following for his sharp and wise take on the contradictions of the world.moreless
